Detasemen Khusus 88 Anti Teror (Densus 88 AT) of the Indonesian National Police conducted a raid at the residence of a suspected terrorist in Sukabumi. During the operation, a pen-shaped firearm was seized. The house belonged to a man identified as HJ (56) who was among the terrorism suspects apprehended in Jayaratu Village, Sariwangi District, Tasikmalaya Regency. The raid, carried out on Saturday (December 28, 2024) from 09:00 to 14:00 WIB, specifically targeted HJ’s residence in Sukamaju Village, Nyalindung District, Sukabumi Regency, in collaboration with the National Police’s Forensic Laboratory (Inafis).
According to information reported by Sekdes (Village Secretary) of Sukamaju, Hendri Gustiawan, to detikJabar on Sunday (December 29, 2024), a total of 32 pieces of evidence were confiscated by the authorities. These included a pistol with ammunition, radicalism-related books, and a pen gun. All seized items were taken to the Sukamaju Village office for identification before further handling by the police.
Hendri stated, “From the 32 pieces of evidence, there was a type of pistol, I don’t know if it’s a soft gun or real, several bullets, a pen that looks like a bullet, similar to a pen but a bullet, and books on jihad, legal basis, things like that.”
Information gathered indicated that the suspected terrorist was affiliated with the Islamic State of Indonesia (NII) network and not directly involved in executions. Hendri mentioned that based on discussions with Densus, the individual was formerly associated with NII. Despite being referenced as part of the team in the operational bureaucracy, his position was more akin to a four-star rank in government offices, clarified Hendri.
